Meet Hugo Cornejo, a Madrid-born tech enthusiast and entrepreneur.
Trained as a software engineer and interaction designer, Hugo moved to London in late 2014, driven by his passion for early-stage projects. A few months later, he joined Monzo as their first designer and founding member.
During his six-year tenure at Monzo, Hugo designed the product and the iconic hot coral card as an individual contributor and built and led a 30-strong team encompassing product design, brand, and research in his role as VP of Design.
In 2021, Hugo embraced a new challenge by co-founding Packfleet, a B-Corp status, zero-emissions, high-quality delivery company that’s making waves in London with its fleet of electric vans, thoughtfully designed product, and exceptional team of drivers.
When he isn’t leading design and product at Packfleet, Hugo advises startups, mentors the next generation of innovators, and enjoys exploring London. He’s married to artist Lucia Soto (https://luciasoto.com), and harbours a firm belief that he will one day become a Wimbledon champion, despite having played tennis for just one year.
Thinking about founding your own startup? Let Hugo share the story of how he left a role he loved at Monzo to try and create something new at Packfleet.
This talk isn't a step-by-step guide on entrepreneurship, but rather a collection of insights, experiences, and potential blind spots that Hugo has encountered along the way.
