Samantha Warren is the Design Director for Creative Cloud Services at Adobe: Superpowers for Creativity. Her team works horizontally across all of the Adobe Creative apps to design shared experiences for things like fonts, colors, assets, sharing, collaboration, and much more. Right now, she is excited about making virtual collaboration feel more creative for herself, her team, and all creatives who work together.
In the past, she has been a Design Director for agencies, a product design consultant for startups, and a designer at Twitter. A few years ago she championed http://styletil.es/, a method for establishing a visual language during the design process. She loves spending time with her husband and dog in the outdoors and enjoys all sorts of arts, crafts, and creative endeavors.
How do you create a design practice that feeds collaboration in a world where people are staring at computers all day long? How does design leadership change when teams are distributed across timezones, and team building is done remotely? And most importantly, how to you create belonging, psychological safety, and trust (key ingredients in the recipe for creativity), when people are working virtually and asynchronously?
In this talk, we will consider how to design better creative collaboration for virtual and distributed teams. I will share the journey of my team, who is not only navigating this new reality, but also designing the software and tools to change how creatives work together.
