Birgit (she/her) is an accomplished design executive with deep experience leading global teams across for-profit and nonprofit sectors, spanning diverse industries and cultural contexts. She is the founder of Curious Bridges, an initiative that fosters constructive dialogue on human-centricity, inclusivity, and leadership in design and beyond.

Passionate about giving back, Birgit has supported the global design community for over 15 years, including serving as a board member and Director of Local Liaison for the Interaction Design Association (IxDA.org).

She is also an advisor to the Inclusive AI Lab. As a consortium member in 2024 and 2025, and as an advisor thereafter, she contributes to advancing ethical and inclusive AI.

Birgit is currently Global Head of Product UX Design at IKEA, where she leads multidisciplinary design teams to craft impactful product and service experiences that support the company’s vision of creating a better everyday life for many people.

She is also an IKEA Foundation Ambassador, championing the foundation’s focus: We fight global warming with and for the many people.
